President Thomas Jefferson Dollar Coins

As the third installment in the new Presidential Dollar Coin Series, Thomas Jefferson Dollars will arrive in August of 2007. These $1 coins are being introduced in accordance with the Presidential Coin Act of 2005, which requires the United States Mint to strike the coins in commemoration of former Presidents of the United States in the order in which they served in the office. Jefferson was born in Virginia in the year 1743 . He served his country as a member of the Continental Congress, author of the Declaration of Independence, Secretary of State and Vice President. He served as President of the United States from 1801 through 1809.
